  What are Sub-Accounts?
 


You can create a Sub-Account on any folder in your online backup account to provide access to files/folders within that folder, to associates. A Sub-Account has access to all IBackup features except the main account's profile and is restricted to the folder assigned to it.

  How do I create a Sub-Account?
 


If you have opted for the Workgroup Subscription or the Enhanced Backup Plan, you can avail Sub-Accounts. The number is dependent on the subscription plan.

To create a Sub-Account from Web-Manager (the browser-based application) for a folder within your main account, simply navigate into it and click 'Sub-Accounts'.

You can select the home folder of the Sub-Account in the following ways:

1. Folder with the Sub-Account username in the current folder by simply entering the account information and clicking the 'Create New' button.

2. Any other folder by clicking the 'Advanced' button.

3. To the current folder by selecting the option 'Select current folder as the home folder for the Sub-Account' before step 1.

  What is the Advanced option?
 


By clicking the 'Advanced' button while creating a Sub-Account, you can select the folder to be used as the Sub-Account's home folder.

  How do I edit a Sub-Account?
 


To edit the Sub-Account, click 'Edit' for the selected Sub-Account in the Sub-Account maintenance section. You can also change the password, email address or quota of this Sub-Account.

  How do I delete a Sub-Account?
 


To delete a Sub-Account, login to your main account via the browser-based Web-Manager. Go to the 'Sub Accounts' section and click the 'Delete' link to delete the account. Deleting a Sub-Account does not delete the data or the data contained in the Sub-Account.

  Is it possible to add Sub-Accounts to my existing plan?
 


Yes. You can add up to 100 Sub-Accounts to your existing plan (over and above the number offered by your existing plan) using the 'On Demand' feature.

  How do I change the password for my Sub-Account?
 


Go to the 'Sub Accounts' section and click the 'Edit' link. A page appears, providing details of your Sub-Accounts. Click the 'Save Changes' button to change the profile of this Sub-Account.

  How do I provide 'restricted' access to a Sub-Account holders?
 


Suppose that you want to provide access to data within your account to two associates such that Associate 1 has access to all data except two folders (say cash records and employee records) and Associate 2 has access to only two folders (say Correspondence and Maintenance).

First, create a Sub-Account for Associate 1, say Secretary1. Create a top-level folder called Secretary1. Keep all your folders under Secretary1 except those to which you do not want to give access. Define Secretary1 as the home folder for Secretary1 Sub-Account.

Next, create a folder, say Associate 2. Map this folder as home folder to provide access to Associate 2, say Secretary 2. Under this folder, move the two folders (Correspondence and Maintenance) You can now provide access to this Sub-Account (Secretary2) to the other associate.

Deleting a Sub-Account does not delete its contents. In the above example, in case you delete the Sub-Accounts Secretary1 and Secretary2, the contents or data in the other folders, Correspondence and Maintenance, are not deleted or lost.

  How do I create Sub-Accounts for read-only access?
 


Click the 'Advanced' button when you create the Sub-Accounts and follow the instructions on the screen. To edit an existing Sub-Account and convert it to a read-only Sub-Account, click 'Edit' on the Sub-Account management screen and select 'Read-only'.

  Are there any FTP restrictions for Sub-Accounts?
 


Read-only Sub-Accounts do not support FTP. They use IBackup Drive, IBackup for Windows or the browser application to work with read only Sub-Accounts. However, there is no such restriction for Sub-Accounts with write permission.

  How do I execute department wide backups using Sub-Accounts?
 


Here's an illustration that details how to execute department wide backups using Sub-Accounts.

Say you need to backup 5 workstations, with 2 GB per workstation. First create a master account through IBackup's registration for 10 GB. Next, create 5 Sub-Accounts through Web-Manager, say sub1, sub2...sub5 using the 'basic' option that automatically creates top level folders with the same name as the Sub-Account name and maps the Sub-Accounts to the respective top-level folders.

Ensure that you allocate quota for the Sub-Accounts appropriately (say 2 GB for each Sub-Account). Each Sub-Account will have its own username and password. Now download the scheduling application IBackup for Windows use respective Sub-Accounts to login to IBackup and set the schedule parameters.

You can manage the entire backup of your department's workstations using one master account for easier control of data, space and billing.

The 'Advanced' option loads the entire directory structure and may hang for large directory structures. The best way to create Sub-Account on a folder is to navigate to the folder within Web-Manager and click 'Sub-Accounts'.

How do I enable Sub-Accounts or Special Accounts for departmental backup of 50 GB and higher Enhanced Backup Plans?

 


50 GB and higher Enhanced Plans allow you to enable 'Departmental Backup'. This implies that you can run backups on multiple desktops using a single main account. 50 GB plans allow for 5 special accounts while 100 GB plans allow for 10 special accounts.

To enable departmental backups, go to the 'Preferences' option in Web-Manager.

  How do I add/remove Sub-Accounts to/from my existing plan?
 


If you wish to add more Sub-Accounts to your existing plan, click the 'Add/Remove Sub-Accounts' link on the Sub-Accounts page. You can add up to a maximum of 100 additional Sub-Accounts and are charged at the rate USD 5 per Sub-Account/per month. The charges are applicable from the first of the next month. This feature is not available for free trial users.

You can also remove the Sub-Account(s). However, you cannot remove Sub-Accounts that come by default with your Plan Type.

  Is it possible to group Sub-Accounts?
 


Yes. To group Sub-Accounts, select the Sub-Account and click the 'Add to Groups' button. You can select an existing group or create a new group. By default, the Sub-Accounts page displays the ungrouped Sub-Accounts.

To view the Sub-Accounts under each group, click on the name of the group. To delete a group, click the 'Delete group' button. All the Sub-accounts under this group are ungrouped. Further, you can change or move a Sub-Account from one group to another.

  Can I view the activity logs of the Sub-Accounts from my main account?
 


If you are the main account holder, you can view the activity logs of all your Sub-Accounts. Login to Web-Manager and click the 'Sub-Accounts/Workgroup' link under the 'Account Maintenance' section. Click the 'View Sub-Accounts Report' option. This displays a page that lists all your Sub-Accounts. Click the 'View activity log' option for a Sub-Account to view the activity log corresponding to that Sub-Account.
